Did anybody else go to Madipalooza this weekend? I definitely went and took advantage of a free Eric Hutchinson concert, as well as free food and games! Naturally (as with any JMU event) it came with a free t-shirt. Since everyone seemed to like my last t-shirt re-purpose I figured I'd try a different one - this time leaving the shirt intact with an open, braided back. Got your shirt and scissors ready?

Step 1: Grab a regular t-shirt.Step 3: Cut across the neckline of the t-shirt to make it off the shoulders.
Step 4: Fold the shirt along it's back seam, making 1-inch cuts from top to bottom.
Step 5: Lay the shirt out regularly and stretch each individual strip so they become longer and rolled.
Step 6: Take the second strip from the top, and bring it underneath the top strip, and back over.
Step 7: Continue step 6 until you reach the bottom of the shirt. Then knot off each side.
Step 8: Rock your newly re-purposed tee!
You can wear a tank underneath (like I did) to keep it a little more "tame," but I totally approve of rocking a shirt like this with a bright bandeau bra! Looking back, I might have made the neckline a little smaller (it kind of falls off my shoulders!) and maybe I would find a way to spruce up the sleeves too so they weren't so boxy.
Hopefully my directions were easy to follow, but if you're still lost make sure to check out this other tutorial that I found super helpful. If you try this, please let me know how it turns out! Anyone got any other good t-shirt cutting ideas?
xo, Meaghan
