About the Stylists

Anna
Ciao bella! I’m Anna and I am from the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. I live by a city with a beating pulse for zesty fashion and stylish flavor.  With a constant mixed batch of looks, I have cultivated a cuisine of my own; mixing my days up with frills, pearls and heels, red lips, leather jackets and boots. My specialty is scouting for fashion trends taken from the runway and adopted by JMU students.
My section will give you the stylish insight into JMU’s fashion scene. My own personal look is Urban Chic; A mix of street fashion with a touch of feminine glamour. I draw inspiration from the classic icon Audrey Hepburn, and an assortment of clothing genres. I hope you find your appetite for style frequently satisfied with delicious, fresh trendy looks and ideas!

Meghan
Hi guys! My name is Meghan. I’m a 20 year old fashion loving college student.  Before college, I had to wear a uniform every day. Weekends were my time to express myself through fashion. That’s why I’m so excited to be writing on “Weekend Wear” here on the JMU campus. I love seeing what people wear on the weekends, whether out to a party, on a date, or on a weekend getaway.
I’m a Washington DC native and think that the city’s style has influenced my personal style: simple sophistication with a hint of girly. My celeb style icons are Jennifer Aniston and Lauren Conrad. I think both women have such classic style with a flirty twist. Whether Jennifer Aniston is wearing her signature classic black dress or Lauren Conrad is pairing an edgy dress with a sophisticated blazer, I think both women always look flawless. I try to incorporate some of their style into my everyday looks.

Where I Shop: J. Crew, Anthropologie, Forever 21
Go to Pieces: Blazer, LBD (Little Black Dress), Satchel, Gold Watch, Pearl Earrings

Style Happy,

Meaghan
Hey fellow fashion-lovers! I’m Meaghan - a 21 year old experiencing college one day and one outfit at a time. I'm from a small town in Massachusetts about an hour away from Boston, and I credit "the North" for a good portion of my personal style. Growing up I idolized Gwen Stefani for her individuality and resistance to conforming though my current style icons aren't celebrities, but rather everyday people (from people on the train to fashion bloggers).
I like to think that my fashion sense is basically a quirky combination of many people-watching sessions with a hint of J. Crew, a splash of vintage, and a dash of dirty-hipster-wannabee. I'm all about mixing the old with the new, with accents from my grandmothers' old accessories, hand-me-downs, and even some handmade jewelry.
My posts ("In My Closet") are all about just that - mixing. I try to marry the old, new, and everything in between in order to either replicate my favorite inspiration looks, recreate trends through thrifting, and generally re-purpose my clothes! Fashion is narrative: what we wear is who we are, and I love the communicative ability of clothes. Here's to telling a good story.

Where I Shop: J. Crew, Old Navy, H&M, Banana Republic, Gap, Target, thrift stores
Go to Pieces: cardigans, vintage earrings, scarves

Dyana
Hey style mavens! I’m Dyana, a junior Public Relations major hailing from Long Island, New York. I have a slight obsession with celebrities and celeb style… which is why my section is ‘Almost Famous.’ My contribution to the MadApparel wardrobe will provide simple how-tos and tips on recreating celebrity style, noting the most popular garb amongst celebs, and recognizing the campus fashionistas who emulate true celebrity fashion sense.
I refer to my style as hippie-chic with an edge. I love mixing girly pieces with edgy items, such as lace with leather. My ultimate style influencer is Nicole Richie. From her trendy headbands to oversized handbags, cocktail rings and sunglasses, she is as glamorous as they come. For evening wear I love Kate Hudson's bohemian, ethereal looks. My favorite beauty look is the edgy, smoky makeup style usually found on Kim Kardashian.
So what’s an accessory or trend I just can't get enough of? Scarves! No matter how many I buy, I never seem to have enough. The ultimate item I couldn't live without would have to be my Free People black lace bandeau. I wear it underneath literally everything! When it comes to shopping, I tend to flock to boutiques. My favorite boutique is Ooh La La in Long Beach, New York. Boutique shopping ensures that your look will always be unique - and what true fashionista doesn't want to stand out from the crowd? Check out Almost Famous to fulfill all your daily fashion needs!

Where I Shop: Urban Outfitters, Shopbop.com, Free People, H&M, Bloomingdale's, Lord & Taylor, American Apparel, Forever 21
Go to Pieces: great skinny jeans, oversized sunglasses, messenger bag, black blazer, over-the-knee boots, moccasins, leather jacket, patterned tights, and anything floral.

Cheers,
Dy (dyana.madapparel@gmail.com)

                                       Katina
Hey everyone! My name is Katina and I’m a 21 year old PR major from Virginia Beach. Growing up just a few minutes from the ocean it’s impossible not to be inspired by my surroundings and the lifestyle- I feel the most at home barefoot and in a bikini. When I do have to get dressed, I would describe my style as bohemian and eclectic. I'm really drawn to natural and effortless looks and my style icon is Mila Kunis, she always looks gorgeous without being overdone. I’m very inspired by my Greek heritage- the more ethnic something looks the better and I’ve been known to snatch every 70s throwback from my mom’s wardrobe I can get my hands on. In my closet, color and print are king resulting in a mix of everything from ikat to breton stripes.
I’m a firm believer in thrift store shopping, and I know style doesn’t have to be expensive. As a college student still trying to survive off of my summer job money, I understand the beauty of a good sale and I promise to show you the best the discount rack has to offer!

Where I Shop: H&M, Urban Outfitters, Forever 21, thrift stores, surf shops
Go to Pieces: thrifted pair of mother of pearl rings, aviator sunglasses, brown leather boots
